Love me some nice shorts

Drumroll, please...

We are mere comments (of an undisclosed number) away from a milestone on this here blog.  The 10,000th comment looms!  Amazing, no?  I can hardly believe it -- that I've written over 1000 posts and that y'all have been reading along.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate your reading and taking the time to write to me -- but especially the reading -- and that you keep on writing even when it's clear that I totally suck at replies most of the time.  Thank you.

That kind of thing just begs for a prize, doesn't it?  I haven't mailed goodies to the contestants who won the last two prizes yet, but that shouldn't stop anyone from trying!  I've never been so late with that sort of thing, but I've never been so busy, either.  I'm working on it, and I most certainly haven't forgotten.  Anyway, drop in and say, "Hey!"  You might be the one -- the 10,000th one -- to win a very special prize from a very special place!

Speaking of contests, there's less than a week, over at Who's Gonna Be "The Boss" Now, for shower attendees to enter the Baby Matching Game!  It's a hoot.  It's never too late to join the party -- let me know and I'll send you the log-in/invite -- it's all about having fun!  Eventually, we'll even let Cara in, too.

It was really fun knitting out last night.  Maybe the change in the weather, maybe the coffee shop's Happy Hour -- whatever the reason, the result was a raucous bunch of knitters (+ one crocheter).  New people!  Lots of chat! Lots of laughs!  I got plenty of knitting done and am past the half-way mark on Mom's shawl -- nothing but decreases to the end!  I got a peak at Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One, and Deb brought the book's first project to show us.  I did not want to want this book and was in full resistance mode... WAS being the operative word.  This book will now be way up high on my Birthday/Christmas List -- right next to the Sterling Silver Needle Gauge Necklace (scroll all the way to the bottom, it's worth it) that I've been love with for over a year.

I've pretty much kept it on the down-low, but DH has been away for about two months.  He sent the occasional dispatch, posted here, if you're interested in what one does on a boat in the bayou.  The story begins on this post -- and, as of today, the boat is still in Louisiana.  That's a bit of a bummer for DH, but what-cha-gonna-do?  Anyway, I'm off to the airport tomorrow because the adventurer returns!

I'm happy that your adventurer is returning home.

AND no stress, no response necessary or expected!;-)

YAY for homecomings! Don't hurt yourself! ;-)

Counting the days until next week! I promise I'll try to puke quietly.

10,000! Wow, that's a lot of comments. You must be way past ready for your husband to come home. Enjoy the reunion. ;-)

I had the same New Pathways experience -- I saw a friend's copy and any and all resistance evaporated. Conceptually, it's just such a cool book!

Two months?! I would have been ready for a happy homecoming after 2 weeks...2 days, even! Have fun!

I got Cat Bordhi's newest book a few weeks ago, finally, and it's mesmerizing. I have one pair of Coriolis socks begun (well, One sock begun!) but sadly have to neglect it for a while, due to superceding deadline knitting and a hand injury slowing me down. What really blows my mind is that this is volume one....

So exciting to be welcoming the traveler back! I suspect there will be a grandkid fix in the near future....

I usually don't de-lurk unless I have something important to add (at least important to me). But I will come out and say hi. I love reading your blog, thank you for sharing both your knitting and you life with all of us.

Hmmmm I've been resisting that sock book too.... But now you have spiked my curiosity:) The silver gauge necklace is pretty cool... I think I might have to add that to my wish list too:)

How wonderful that your DH is on his way back home... Lots of celebrating soon:)

Darn - I was so hoping to not want that book too! Yeah for hubbo returning home .. you're much stonger than I would be after a two month absence. I - um - don't handle things like that at all well. I goes without saying that I love reading about your life and, swhether it's kids, knitting, houses-stuff, school - whatever - cuz I love ya!

Congrats on the almost 10,000 comments. My blog is only a few months old and I've received maybe 10 comments. But you were at that point once, too, so I'm gonna dream!

Wow--two months! You must be thrilled (and he must be too, boat in Louisiana or not!)--hurray!

Congrats on the comment milestone! I've been afraid to find an actual copy of Cat Bordhi's new book because I'm pretty sure if I do I'll find a way to abscond with it immediately. :P

Wow, 10,000 comments. That is a LOT of comments!

Enjoy your husbands return! That is a long time to be away from home.

Joan Hamer

That's a ton of comments. I'm lax in keeping my blog up but I read em all! Happy Homecoming

Congratulations on having such a successful blog. And thank you also. It is one of the blogs I look for every day.

Congratulations on your milestone!

Teresa C

Okay, let me get this straight. He paid money. He went down and fixed the boat for two months and now he is coming home. No tuna. No tuna? Did they at least get to go out for sushi? Are you coming to Rhinebeck? I need to hear more and more about this. Very curious, I am.

Congratulations on the upcoming (or possibly just past) massive milestone!

Well, hey from me! Happy for you that your DH is coming home - just in time for the real fall/knitting weather!

Ooooh, yet another new sock book. Who would have thought there could be so many good sock knitting books? Vogue has a new one, too. I peeked at it last week in the bookstore and am resisting temptation only because I already have so many sock patterns in my queue.

Happy knitting, happy reunion and happy 10,000th post!

What a great necklace.

I am glad that he is returning to you. Don't do anything that I wouldn't do. ;)

thanks for that necklace link - it is definitely going on my Christmas/birthday/I love Ann lists!!

Heya, That's another great milestone. Love your blog. Hope you will be putting up more pics though.

Wow! - a 1000 posts and 10000 comments, that's a target to aim for (though I think it will take most of us much longer to get there ...!)

I want Cat Bordhi's new book. I will be adding it to my Christmas List.

Congrats on your comment milestone! How's school going?

kathy boyer

I don't really feel this is the 1000th comment. But Im going to keep trying! Great milestones. DH gone 2 months. Wow. Happy Homecoming. Hoping to see a movie this week! Either Into the Wild or Hairspray. How differnt can they be?

Congrats on your 10,000 comment. It's quite an achievement.

I better go put my entry into the baby picture contest. I keep forgetting!

I'm happy your adventurer is coming home! Congrats on the 10,000 post milestone! :)

I keep forgetting to ask if I can join in on the Cara Baby Shower fun! What a great idea!

As for the book - I too tried to resist but then with all the bloggers out there saying how wonderful it was, I ordered it from Amazon back in August. Except, they won't be able to deliver it until March!! I want the book now :(

Just want you to know how much I enjoy your blog. I am not sure how you keep up the pace of all that you do. I have loved your knitting projects as well as your every day life. I just wanted to say thank you for the 1000 posts.

I love to come here and see what you're working on, what you are up to, what your family is up to and to share in your life. It's a joy.

Happy homecoming to your DH.
10, 000 comments, WOW thats a lot.
I want that sock book, I really want someone to tell me its awful and I don't need it, but its not happening!

Both you and your readers have reached significant milestones. Congratulaltions to all!

Congrats on 10,000! Wow! Cat's new book was hard to resist foe me too, I caved already ;) I have to stop by the Boss' blog, I'm so far behind!

Wow - I love that needle size pendant! Might have to add that to my list, too. Can I join in on Who's Gonna Be "The Boss" Now? I kept on meaning to ask, but today is the day...

Vicki Forman

Hi, I stumbled across your blog from reading another one that I don't remember. I hail from Manitowoc and was thrilled to figure out you're in Green Bay I think.

I've got the Cat Bordhi book on order and can't wait till it comes. I am smitten with sock knitting.

Love your blog.

Happy, Happy, and all that stuff, You should be very proud that you have not only that many comments but that many posts! I look forward to your blog entries EVERY day and when it's not there, I go away and keep checking!!
No stinking feeds for me...
Take good care and have fun.

10,000 woot!
I wonder how many people would recognize exactly what that necklace is. I think it is very cool.
I'm not even tempting myself with the sock book link, I have too much too do already.
Enjoy the homecoming with your man!

Okay now I'm bummed I missed Knit Night this week! I won't be able to be there for the next 2 or 3 either.

You've gotten a lot of comments! :-)

Kathy W

I've been thinking of getting the Cat Bordhi book but I haven't decided yet. I want to get Alison Hyde's Wrapped in Comfort first.

Congrats on your milestone.

Andrea (noricum)

"Hey!" ;) I scrolled back a few entries, and can't seem to see a photo of those mittens you're talking about. Did you show them? (I'm trying to figure out if I'm blind or not.)

Two months? Wow, that's a long time to be apart. I hope you guys are enjoying being back together! My husband was gone most of this week and leaves again on Monday and that's hard enough - I can't imagine him being gone for two months. Wow.

I'm delurking...I'll always delurk for a contest ;) Here's to 10,000!

10,000 comments is a huge milestone! Way to go!

I'll be rooting for the Packers every weekend, though the Patriots are my true loves (Tom Brady, will you marry me?). I don't think there's a player who epitomizes the love of the game as much as Bret Favre.

that needle gauge necklace is the most awesome thing i have seen in a long time! i heart it!

Congratulation, Vicki, both on the milestone and on the prodigal's return. I assume you're off enjoying his company.

I have a milestone contest on my blog right now, too, but for my six-month mark. I'm far from 10,000 comments and have one less digit in my number of posts, but I'll get there one day.

And I better get over to vote on the baby photos. I can't seem to get Bloglines to recognize that one yet and so it seems to get overlooked often. Thanks for the remonder.
