Hexies are not squares

Unraveled Wednesday: Goin' with the flow

I'm joining Kat & the Unravelers today (or not) to share what I'm knitting crocheting and reading!

Well, y'all know what I'm crocheting. I added a few more motifs to the second row last night.

It's way too early to be thinking about this, but I think I'm going to want a border around the whole thing. I have done ZERO research, but if any of you have any suggestions for what kind of crochet stitch makes a good border, I'm all ears.

I finished listening to LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND, and I'm looking forward to discussion! My new audio book is THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY, and I am really enjoying Carey Mulligan's narration. AN AMERICAN QUILT: UNFOLDING A STORY OF FAMILY & SLAVERY is still my bedtime reading.

I enjoyed Leave the World Behind and I'm looking forward to our discussion and I also liked The Midnight Library. You are moving FAST on that crochet stuff! I bet Cara has some ideas for the border.

My SiL is a crochet wizard and she recommends the Camel Stitch border. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtItj8cP32M
You are really moving along quickly with those hexies!

I think we're going to have an amazing discussion about Leave the World Behind!

I love how your hexis are working up. I have no suggestion about edgings, not being a very experienced crocheter myself, but I'm sure you'll be able to find some good ideas.

Oh gosh I just love all those hexies. I can't believe how fast this is coming together!!

I love the crochet hexies, Vicki! I used to do a lot of granny squares, but never tried the hexies! And I'll bet Cara has done ALL the border-research. . .

I made a similar Afghan, possibly the same pattern, several years ago with Cascade 220 leftovers. It’s my favorite! I think I finished it with one row single crochet, a second row of double crochets, two in one stitch, skip next stitch, then a finish row of single crochet. I didn’t make any notes but that’s what it looks like. It lies very flat and looks finished. I used the same color as the outer row on the hexies. If you want to see it I’m mdoane on Ravelry. I named it Hexicon Leftovers Afghan.

I echo everyone's thoughts on the eagerly anticipated discussion of Leave the World Behind. So much stuff to talk about in that book!

I love how your crochet is progressing! Sadly, I have no suggestions for a border.
