NaBloPoMo 2021.10: Unraveling
Joining Kat & the Unravelers today for Unraveleding Wednesday... (I'm sensing an ongoing theme).
CROCHET:
I worked around the entire blanket once, then across the "top," and... it didn't appear to be working. I'd suspected that I picked up too many stitches, and it turns out that I was right.
Huh.
To a muggle, it might all be fine, but I could see that motifs were becoming misshapen. I was hearing my inner voice say, "it'll block out," but if I've learned one thing in all these years, it's that those three words are among the most dangerous words of all!
So today, I was literally UNRAVELING...
...and hearing that song in my head as I did so! Tomorrow's another day.
READING:
Listening to cool guy Dave Grohl read his memoir, The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music.
I've finally cracked a book from the stack on my nightstand: This Golden Fleece: A Journey Through Britain's Knitted History.
Enjoying both a lot!
Oh dear! Sorry about the Unraveling, but you will be happier that you did that. The hexi blanket is just so gorgeous. I keep saying that I need to get back to my Granny Squares - probably now that won't happen till after the holidays. Golden Fleece sounds/looks (I peeked at Amazon) interesting.

Well that's unfortunate, but I know it would continue to bother you if you'd kept it, so I'm sure it'll be worth it in the long run!

Well, damn. I know it will be worth it to get it read but that had to have been discouraging.

I don't love doing crochet, so I would have been quite unhappy about all that unraveling. But good for you for not listening to that devious voice tempting you with "It will block out"! (Those flowers still look beautiful and your blanket will, too.)

You're very smart to know the inner voice tells the truth. The right edging will be worth the effort. Listening to David Grohl's book is the only way to read it. I enjoyed hearing him tell his tales.

Sorry you had to unravel but after all the work you put into the motifs you want it to look wonderful. Your birthday flowers still look beautiful and the colors work so well with Hexie!

Bummer.
I had an unraveled week, too. But . . . ONWARD!!!
(And - as you know - I loved listening to super cool Dave Grohl whisper his stories in my ears!) XO

Ugh to unraveling but I am sure your will love it more now that you can fix it. And, I am hoping to start This Golden Fleece very soon. It has been on my shelf too long.

Sorry you had to unravel but totally get what you said. I too have told myself “oh it will block out” , only to be disappointed. It truly will be a lovely blanket when you’re done, love the colors. I’ve not heard of the Golden Fleece, sounds very interesting a pond will have to check it out.
